With nearly a decade of experience, Saskia is a thoughtful and highly skilled speech pathologist supporting adults in the community with swallowing and communication needs. She brings a calm, client-focused approach to every visit, with a strong interest in dysphagia management and language disorders.
Originally trained in international politics and communications, Saskia previously worked in design and marketing before pursuing her passion for health and human connection through speech pathology. She understands just how isolating communication or swallowing difficulties can be, and is passionate about helping clients regain autonomy, safety, and dignity in everyday life.
Saskia’s approach is holistic, respectful, and deeply values-driven. She takes time to understand the full picture, and what matters to each client, how they live, and what they hope to regain. She believes that care should always support informed choice, and regularly works with clients and families through complex decisions, including those related to palliative and end-of-life care.
What truly sets Saskia apart is her unwavering empathy and advocacy. She sees the person, not just the diagnosis. Her clients are never just names on a list – they are individuals with stories, relationships, and aspirations. Saskia is known for going the extra mile, particularly for those at risk of falling through the cracks, and for providing a voice to those navigating difficult health journeys.
Saskia joined Encompass Health Services for its community-based, client-first model of care and the chance to deliver meaningful support in people’s own homes.
Outside of work, she enjoys architecture and design, music, reading, and spending time with her family. She also has a not-so-secret wish to return to rowing… if the mornings weren’t so early!
